Forty Days That Made All the Difference
Acts 1:1-3

ONE GREAT TRUTH: Humanity nailed God’s gift of His Son to a cross and buried Him. After His resurrection, God gave Him for another 40 days to infallibly prove His victory and authority over sin and death forever!

I can remember attending a funeral when I was a child, and not fully understanding everything that was happening. For some reason, it deeply impacted me and after the family was clearing from the casket at the graveside service, I wanted to linger there. The same thoughts crossed my mind at the funeral of my grandfather who died when I was about 14.

FORTY DAYS…

1. To Show Himself.

Hebrews 1:1-2.

Throughout His earthly life, Jesus revealed God to sinful humanity. God actually came and built a tabernacle of human flesh among us. But this revelation was never more clear and abundant than in His resurrection body – glorified and readied for His return to heaven. What a privilege that He showed this to His apostles, and what a privilege that He wants to show us Himself today!

2. To Prove His Resurrection.

Many infallible proofs…
a. The catch of fish.
b. The upper room meetings.
c. The touch of Thomas.
d. The gathering of more than 500 disciples.

3. To Speak About the Kingdom.

What did He say about the Kingdom? Wouldn’t we like to know? We do understand that His agenda changed. Up until the cross, His agenda was to foretell of His impending death for sin. But now, His focus is on two things: the Kingdom, and its expansion.
