Genesis 35:1-15

ONE GREAT TRUTH: We go through life making messes and God wants to meet us right in the middle of them to shape us into real worshippers.

This past week, Ella and her cousin, Olivia made many messes together. Once, they took a little fan and some other items, taped paper all over them, and got into a sewing kit and poked needles through the paper – all unbeknownst to us. They said they were making a mouse trap! (Poor mouse…) To me, it looked like a big mess. But to Nana, it had all the potential of a Picaso!

We look at our lives, and at each other’s lives, and we see a mess. God sees the potential for a masterpiece!

JACOB’S MESSES…

1. In a mess with Laban – by trying to scheme him out of his wealth.

2. In a mess with Esau – because of stealing his birthright and blessing.

3. In a mess with Shechem – because of his poor parenting.

All of us have our messes, but the worst messes of all are relationship messes! Nonetheless, God wants to get involved in our lives right in the middle of our messes, and help us to fix them and grow in the process.

THE CLEANSING POWER OF WORSHIP

1. We experience a clean break with the past.

2. We experience a fresh relationship with God.

3. We experience a new identity and future.

Jesus stepped into a world full of messy people to die for them and draw them to Himself. He wants to step into your messy life as well!
