The Fingerprints of God (Part 2)

Genesis 24:1-25:11
ONE GREAT TRUTH: God’s fingerprints are on every life, but only those who know Him and follow Him can really see and rejoice in His handiwork.
I. Choose God’s best. (vs. 49-53)
This whole passage teaches us about the sovereign and providential hand of God. What’s amazing, however, is that even after the servant watches God in control, he still leaves the choice to participate in what God is doing up to Laban. God works, but we decide whether we’re going to go with God’s best or substitute a plan of our own, which always carries consequences.
II. Accept life’s challenges. (vs. 58-61)
One of the greatest statements in the passage is uttered here; “I will!” Rebekah responds by accepting a huge challenge to immediately leave her home with a stranger to marry a man she doesn’t know. What faithful acceptance of a huge challenge! But she had demonstrated a submissive heart already at the well.
III. Love the people God places in your life. (vs. 62-27)
Isaac was comforted by Rebekah. He recognized her as a gift from God. He didn’t choose her, God did. That’s true of every married couple today. You didn’t choose your spouse, God did. So He placed him/her in your life for a purpose.
IV. Decide to Finish Well. (25:7-8)
Deciding to finish well means deciding to live well today! You can’t just decide to go out with a bang, you have to grow through the journey every day so that you’re mature when you get home!
• 2 Timothy 4:8
Have you been submissive like Rebekah? To what calling do you need to say, “I will!”?
